need feedback on this...

I have information to join the Alumni Association. I would like to but with the current situation I have serious doubts. Would it make a difference if I send a personal note stating why I have my reservations to join?

But I guess every personal boycott/demonstration adds up.

Are you KIDDING??? Of course it would make a difference. In fact, this group needs to be the next to be bombarded w/ letters if it hasn't already been.

Yes it does make a difference. In addition to telling the Alumni assn. (who seem to support Thames) of your concern, write the IHL board and let them know you will join the alumni association when Thames is gone.  One thing the business understands is loss of revenue due to poor business practices. Let's make it a reality!

No quarter!

Yes, it will make a difference. The Alumni Association needs to be concerned with campus events when a soon to be alumni has the concerns you are expressing. Alumni organizations are looking for potential donors for that $$$$$. Every new graduate need to think twice about joining the Alumni Association as long as STF is president of USM.

Two years ago, my wife & I dropped our Alumni Association memberships (since the late '70s) with a note that we will be happy to resume active membership when there is a different president at the University.

But if they still give out free memberships to new grads, take it. Hopefully, by the time you have to actually fork over any cash money, there will be no reason to protest.

I can assure you that not every member of the alumni board supports Thames. Some members, however, have not been vocal about their Thames concerns, and it is time for them to step forward.

It occurs to me that the best way to get the board involved is to be a dues-paying alumni association member who demands that the board take a stand. Board members WILL listen attentively to the people they're elected to represent, and I believe they're deeply concerned about the state of affairs at USM.

Please be a member and an active one. While I understand your reluctance to donate funds at this critical time, I believe it's the most important time to get involved. I'm not excited about making my annual contribution to the foundation this year, but I plan on doing so because the causes I support financially are the very causes that have suffered too much already under the Thames regime.

A final note to those of you who are already members of the alumni association: Let your board members hear from you! The next regularly scheduled board meeting is in June, and you can get a list of board members at the alumni association website.

I am a life member of the USM Alumni Association. Last week I got a dues solicitation. When you pay for a Life Membership, you are not suppose to have to pay annual dues. I called to inquire as to why they were "dunning" me and they claimed the computer made a mistake. Those darn computers! They also ask me to let them know if they could do anything for me. I told them, for a start, how about firiing Shelby!

I'm actually joining the Alumni Ass. thanks to this mess. If I am an AA member, I have a lot more weight when I ask other alumni to write/call the IHL.
