Just had dinner at Paninos with a CBED faculty member, among others. He told me that Doty set up an election in the CBED for faculty representation on the University Council. I believe Pood and Gandy are appointing their faculty representatives (Doty is head-and-shoulders above those other clowns). However, he told me that the CBED faculty voted unanimously this afternoon not to be a part of the Council. Not sure what will happen now.
I know for a fact that Doty is very big on shared governance. This idea that he set up an election is not surprising given that. This PUC thing is a concoction of Thames and Pood, and believe me, when it fizzles out (which it will), ole Pood will take the hit on it (he deserves it).
My department, which I can't reveal just yet but it is not in CBED, also voted not to paticipate in the new council - we refused to nominate anyone to serve.

At CoST curriculum meeting yesterday the new council was discussed with emotion and Dean Gandy got an ear full. The chairs informed him of Council of Chairs recommendation. It was asked what would happen if no department submitted a name. He said he already had one name submitted and would have to go with that. This should be very interesting next week when (IF) the council is to meet.

Way to go, CoST!! I know that there are some rabble-rousers over there.
My department was, as usual, not given any opportunity to vote, just to nominate. And we barely heard anything about that. So cheers to the rest of you!
