The HatAm poll yesterday--90%+/- voted that the PUC would make no difference.
While Lisa drones on about the healing power of the university council, we need to be out there making the point that her statements just demonstrates that the administration of this university lives in a bubble--that even 90% of Hattiesburg's general public realize that the PUC won't heal the rift.

Good communication within an organization exists only when employees feel comfortable communicating. University Councils, open door policies, and the like are only effective when organizational members feel comfortable in using them. Otherwise it's just another attempt to make it look like managers (administration) is doing something positive. In order for employees to feel comfortable communicating, the organizational culture has to encourage such actions. Punitive, bureaucratic cultures do not foster open communication. Centralized power and decision making (at the top of the organization) do not encourage open communication.
