Do remember that Miriam Cabana is Don Cabana's wife. I'm sure everyone is aware of Don Cabana's tenure as Faculty Senate President and his continuing reluctance to criticize Thames.

flawed process: the first request by chairs for direct elections was turned down by the Deans. We have already lost control of the process. It isn't that the people on it will be bad: but it is yet another example of the kind of patriarchal crap we keep getting from the administration. THEY always control the final look of a committee.
In this administration, we have to regard the Deans as admin and not faculty. The way they were lined up to stand by the Prez in the public press conferences pretty much makes this clear.

That's been true since day one. That's why all the old deans got the boot.
First, a disclaimer: I don't know Thomas Fraschillo at all, and I have heard only wonderful things about Petra Lamb in her capacity as secretary of Anth/Soc. Additionally, I don't know whether departments nominated either of these folks. And I don't know where they stand on SFT and his administration more generally. However, I am quite sure that both served on the CoAL dean's search committee (you know, Dean Pood's college????)--Fraschillo was the co-chair, I think. Even if this ISN'T rank favoritism/cherry-picking, it smacks of it. Just the thing that we were all afraid of. I'm also disturbed by the fact that (as has been pointed out elsewhere) no grad students (those leading the charge against SFT and Co.) come from CoAL. Something really really rotten in Denmark.
As a staff member in the College of Health, I and several others, are very concerned about the appointment of Miriam Cabana to represent the staff of our College. I think that everyone knows of Dr. Cabana's ties to the administration. We are concerned that those ties will continue.
