One should consider asking the grand marshall. As pointed out earlier he has a long history with the "gnome" and if he fulfills the model of a "grand marshall" lying about the past should be below his moral standards.

Ahhh, the infamous Persian rug that I've delighted on resting my feet when I've had to be in that conference room in the Dome for various "functions". I have never figured out how he ever thought that it was justified under "equipment" in that grant.

The gnome really likes to live like a king on state money. Perhaps the carpet was justified as a delivery package for his secretary to be moved around in (on). Wonder if he will take the carpet back to his new throne room in the polymer building after he is deposed? He and the ole boys can sit around on it and dream of resurrection.

There are rugs and there are rugs. A "Persian" rug can cost whatever someone wants to pay. Just because it's a large rug does not mean it's a good rug. I would really love to have some details about this item. Does anyone know where it was purchased? Size? Style? Handmade or machine made? Did it come from Anderson's? How long ago? True Persian rugs (i.e. Iranian) were embargoed until quite recently. I gave a machine-made Turkish rug, a 6x9 to a friend for her shop and people thought she was really "uptown" when in fact the rug wasn't worth $100.

A friend of mine who is a textile conservator worked on a rug for the administration quite a few years ago. I'm not sure if is the same one that is in the conference room, though. The one she erpaired was definitely hand woven, all wool, and as I recall fairly large. I'll see if she remembers anything about it. It has been at least 15 or more years ago that she was working on it.

The rug was purchased by CE during one of her decorating fits. Look around the dome. The rug is not the only big ticket item she purchased with the check book called USM.

Everyone knows that CE is not supposed to have signature authority because she got caught forging the deans sig and paying herself for a party she did not have. The VP that caught her works at IHL in Jackson now.
