I did not see any of the newscasts. In short, during the regular session the legislature authorized numerous bond bills for universities, colleges, and economic development projects but they have yet to approve any of the various bond issues for numerous reasons. The Trent Lott building has been in the works before Dr. Thames took over. This is pretty much unrelated to the current situation at USM. Dear Curious,
Thanks for your helpful reply. I was afraid my query had disappeared into cyberspace.
I partly was wondering if the state was in any way going to step in to fund the project, which some people had thought might be funded with the money once earmarked for nursing. That connection--if true--might make the WDAM story relevant to this board. If there's continued silence, I'll conclude that it does not.
I don't mind buildings, should anyone think I do. My father was in fact a builder, and I grew up around construction sites. I just don't want to see poor Nursing turn any more into the abomination of desolation. I'd like to see their funding turn around. I'd like to see them out of a hazardous building and into a decent one. But that may have little to do with the WDAM story.
