During the past two years, President Shelby Thames has demonstrated to everyone his talent as an administrator and manager. His skills in these areas are now obvious to all. No one can deny that he has brought USM a state, regional, national, and even international reputation it never possessed before. People who had never heard of USM are now fully aware of its existence and of President Thames' skills as President. I therefore wish to suggest that USM is now far too small a stage for President Thames; he needs to stretch his wings and move beyond the narrow confines of Hattiesburg. He needs to be appointed Special Assistant to the Governor for Economic Development for South Mississippi; only through such a promotion can he further display the skills he has honed during his two years as President. SFT to the top!
Let's take this idea even further and send him to work for the newly-created US Dept. of Homeland Security (isn't that where Shelboo was supposed to be on the day of the infamous press conference?). Take him straight to the top!
Maybe he can invent invisible paint for government buildings to protect them from attack. I don't think he can properly do the job, however, without the able assistance of Roy Klumb, whom I therefore also nominate for promotion. I wish I had thought of this solution before! Neither Roy nor SFT has yet risen to his proper level of incompetence (ala the Peter Principle), because they have not yet been appointed to Federal posts.

I'm sure the Delta Council would be 100% in favor of this because of its potential impact on the economy of South Mississippi.

If I may say so, that is the beauty of this plan: EVERYBODY benefits!
