Post Info TOPIC: report from Paninos Italian Ristorante
Thomas Cooley's Risk Manager

report from Paninos Italian Ristorante

Hello everyone:

Hope you are having a pleasant evening.  I am texting the post using my cell, so I hope it works.

We are currently sitting in a back corner table at Paninos eating spaghetti and meatballs.  Whenever Judge Cooley has a great day (or days) at the poker table, he always tells us to put on the 3-piece suits and we head to a dark, smoky Italian restaurant for a late meal.

We always choose a back corner table, drinks lots of red wine, and order piles of spaghetti.  Afterward, we break out the Cubans (which we have just done).  This is where it gets weird, but we indulge.  Judge Cooley insists that we all play a part from The Godfather during the meal.  He speaks in his best Brando the whole night, like he is doing now.  He has been assured (by Bobby Chain) that when the Thames regime is toppled, he (Judge Cooley) can fly down and break the news to Thames.  He's already got it planned out.

My associate and I will fetch Thames and bring him to Paninos, where Judge Cooley will be seated with Mayor Dupree and Mr. Chain.  In his best, scratchy Brando voice, he will simply say --- "Shelby, like I always say, it's not personal, it's business..."  At that point we will lead SFT out through the kitchen in the back, and the Fire Shelby board "coming out" party will commence.  Wine, song, Cubans and dance for all, on Thomas Cooley Law School.  I guess you can call tonight a rehearsal for that night, given that Judge Cooley has practiced his line about 100 times already.  BTW, our waiter tonight is a lucky man.  Judge Cooley has already slipped him 3 bones, and I suspect 2 or 3 more are coming shortly.

Before I go, let me fill you in on the rest of the day.  I stopped by Ms. Naylor's office to let her know that the whole thing yesterday was, well, just not cool at all.  I told her to pass the word along that grad student David Johnson is running things from now on, by authority of Judge Cooley.

Judge Cooley was also moving about campus.  He said he passed by the Pileum office and saw Jill sitting there, staring out of the window, listening to Jessica Simpson's Sweetest Sin.  She appeared to him to be very preoccupied, I suspect having my associate on the brain.  He has assured us that he's teasing this one, not knowing anything about her "situation."

My associate was tied up with James Green this afternoon.  Bobby Chain tipped us off to some untoward things with regard to Green's contract non-renewal.  Oh, and before I forget, we are currently investigating the whereabouts of Ms. McCarty's portrait that used to hang in the dome.  If Shelby is all "Billy Hewesed" about displaying it, it will certainly have home in the foyer to my office back at TCLS.

Glad to hear the Judge has resurfaced and done so well at the tables.

I'm grateful for the Judge's authority...even if I'm not running things.

I really enjoy these posts. Keep it up!

Can you let us know if the Judge attended USM's graduation?  Either one?  Both?  Did he meet with Guv'ner Barbour?  We can't wait to hear what's going on with you all! (Southern translation:  all y'all).

I love, love, love these reports!  HOWEVER, I do have two questions:

1.  Someone please tell me that Ms. McCarty's portrait is STILL hanging in the dome???????

2.  And what does "Billy Hewesed" means?  I think I'm missing something here.

For the Billy Hewes reference, dig back through some old posts about his background, political ideology, etc.  I'm a conservative Repub, and BH is on my "with friends like him, who needs enemies" list!  Also, I too would like to know about the portrait.  If it has been removed, that is disgraceful, and I would like to know where it is.  Has it been moved to the dorm which bears her name?
