Saucier, Gene < 1. former State Representative (MS) and upper-level administrator at USM during the McCain and Lucas administrations; 2. author of important column in the 5/16/2004 Hattiesburg American indicating that he was responsible for much of Shelby Thames’ hierarchical advancement at USM and that he regrets his assistance in that regard today; 3. his column also indicated that USM administrators and deans gave Aubrey Lucas a 14-to-1 "no confidence" vote on Shelby Thames, then a VP at USM, in the late 1970s/early 1980s, but Lucas failed to act on it; 4. said Thames lacks the abilities necessary to lead a university, and those who made him president will ultimately regret doing so.
