As a reader of this forum, I am getting so many different views I need a scorecard to keep track.
Anyway, this is my question, what do you all think and or feel will happen at the IHL meeting on Thursday? It would seem to me that several options are available for action. Those being:
None-- no action what so ever
Reward the behavior and give him a new contract
Reprimand Thames for unprofessional behavior
Request his step down ( Or to quote Donald Trump--YOU'RE FIRED)
I don't live there, so I honestly don't know what the impact of the letters are going to be. Has there been enough public outcry to the board? Have the new alumni said anything? Rachel Q?? Mr and Mrs Q? Have any of them signed the petition? The more signatures the better.
Do you feel that the PUC or I guess the PC now is going to look favorable in the eyes of the IHL? Yes most of you feel its a joke, I don't know what to think about it. I can tell that it is dividing what use to be a solid faculty. I'm sure that the faculty that is on this thing didn't ask to be there, knowing what their peers might think. Those members are being asked to do a difficult job, and I'd be willing to bet that some of them read this board. The comments being made have to be very discouraging to them, making them feel like crud. I'm not even on this thing and I cringe when I read the comments.
Should SFT be removed, who would be a suitable replacement? From what I have read and gleaned from this board, Tim Hudson doesn't seem to be real popular. So who????? I've seen several names bantered back and forth. Like I said eariler, I need a scorecard.
One last thought, I was taught by wonderful professors who said that if one has a complaint, one should also offer solutions thereby not becoming part of the problem. I am by no means saying that the faculty, staff, students of USM are part of the problem, not at all, but you should be part of the solution. And from where I sit, I pray daily for that type of guidance to be allowed there.
My guess is he'll be patted on the back for doing so much (the PUC, the email change, the fresh dialogue with the faculty) in such a short time. And he'll be concratulated on the other new economic ventures announces in the last few weeks.
