An audience with the Godfather of USM is a wonderful experience. Tonight was an inspirational, motivational, and powerful experience as we listened to Mr. Chain state his position regarding the university that he loves.
We listened as Mr. Chain recalled his initial support of Thames. We heard how Mr. Chain worked hard to get the Trent Lott Center project started, thinking he had Thames support. We heard about the living hell that Susan Hollandsworth endured trying to help Mr. Chain get the project organized.
We heard the lies that Angie Dvorak told to Mr. Chain. We heard the lies Tim Ryan told Mr. Chain. We saw the project taken from Mr. Chain, by Angie Dvorak, Thames and Ryan.
We began to feel fear for the administrators who intentionally derailed the project for their own ego, and in the process try to humiliate Mr. Chain.
For two years, Mr. Chain tried to work with these amateurs and for two years he endured remarks from Ginnani's ginnies who called to say his day was over and he should get out of the way.
Thames has violated every part of the funding agreement regarding the Center. First, Thames and Doty decided it would be the business building.
Now, it will be moved to the old golf course for Angie's commercialization nail salon and tire center.
Mr. Chain informed us that he has gone as far as possible as a team player, without a team. Shelby Thames has lied to him for the last time and that puts Shelby on the fighting side of Bobby Chain.
Bobby Chain has declared WAR on Shelby and "the gang who can't get anything done." He will not stand by and see the university he loves be destroyed by a bunch of people who are determined to take everything for themselves and leave the university in ruin.
He shared with us his hope that IHL would address the crisis, but he no longer believes the board wants USM to be successful.
There is one exception: Virginia Newton. Mr. Chain explained he and Ms. Newton were on opposite sides during the presidential search for Thames. He further admitted he made a mistake and is committed to fixing the problem. He is fully supporting Ms. Newton and the excellent job she is doing, as the lone board member working to save USM.
That long dark shadow following the administration is you know who! Lock you doors, he is coming to get you.
P.S. Tim Hudson, Mr. Chain requests that you not attempt to ride to the presidency on his coattail. A person worthy of the presidency can stand on his own merits.
Assuming that the information is this post is accurate, and I have no reason to believe otherwise, the pro SFT gang is faced with a dilemma. In order to defend SFT, they will have to discredit Bobby Chain. Given Mr. Chain’s stature in the community, and his willingness to be a man and admit when he has made in error in judgment, most are going to think twice about taking him on. To the extent they attempt to defend SFT by denigrating Mr. Chain, they lose. I would assume that Sen. Lott is not happy about the situation either. An additional point is that Mr. Chain may be the force that compels the State Auditor to look (reluctantly) in to the financial situation at USM. An administration that has conveniently ignored so many other rules is not likely to be bothered by trivial issues such as accounting standards and fiduciary responsibility.
I am all for an audit - think it is the only we to get rid of the bunch of them. Clearly, Hudson and Dvorak will not pass muster and then Shelby will fall for his overall fiscal mismanagement. I don't understand the original post by "Go Chain Go". Was it meant to be an "inside story" like those we receive from Judge Cooley or was there a press conference that I missed? Cossack, since you and I seem to be the only ones awake, any ideas?
I certainly appreciate Mr. Chain's efforts to correct his earlier mistake. Perhaps he will see fit to afford greater deference to academia during the next presidential search.
Is there an expanded version of the recent HA article concerning Chain's disaffection with Thames? The HA on-line piece is only a few scant teaser sentences. Did the print edition contain a "real" article? Where's the beef?

The story showed up on the HA website last night, long after the pulp edition was in my driveway. As soon as they get today's hard copy out, I'll try to add any additional information included there.

Please do; and when the full story comes out, everyone should send a copy to Senator Lott's office (the address is readily available on google) and to local officials (whose email addresses are available on the main Hattiesburg webpage; this can be found by typing "Hattiesburg Mississiippi into google).
If the report of Mr. Chain's disaffection is true, is there any chance at all that he might be willing to form a group of anti-SFT citizens -- something like "Concerned Citizens for USM"? It would be helpful if such a group existed so members of the community would know that people other than faculty, staff, students, alumni, and outsiders are concerned about what is happening to USM.

excellent idea- aforum to galvanize the community members who are concerned about USM-something the alumni assoc. should be doing-perhaps those alumni board members who support a change in leadership at USM could join forces with Mr. Chain to create your proposed group-email them
What, if any, is the relationship between Mr. Chain and Tim Hudson? Stated differently, are they "friendly", and could Chain be characterized as a Hudson supporter or ally? I don't mean, by posing the question, to suggest or imply that there is a relationship, but I do know that Tim would have you believe there is.....

I'd suggest forwarding the letters from Ms. Tawdry and "Former Exec" to Mr. Chain. They speak more eloquently to the present state of affairs at USM than anything I've seen in print.
By the way, for those of us who are relative outsiders, who is Ms. Tawdry?
