A bit of information for you...

I see that you wished to ban me even though I have stepped in a put an end to Seeker's harassment of the board.

This message has been conveyed to me:

Thames will retire before the fall semester begins, Tim Hudson will become interim president, and a national search will begin. No candidate currently working at Southern Miss will be considered for the position, including Hudson, Cotton, Henry or anyone else.

This should make you very happy.

One little point of correction SRM: Don Cotten does not currently work for USM or any other Mississippi institution of higher learning.

Now, if you don't mind, back under the bridge. Wait for the billy goatse to trot by.

I was about to post that Don Cotten now works at Arkansas State University as the associate vice-chancellor for research and technology transfer, but then came upon this bit of information on the ASU website:

http://asunews.astate.edu/SustichInterimVC.htm

Does anyone know if Don Cotten is leaving ASU or just moving to a different job there???

Inquiring minds want to know!

Truth, I looked all over that website several days ago, and couldn't tell.  Surely somebody on this board knows . . .

Now you folks have me wondering if I should be looking for a personal Risk Manager. I'm feeling left out, since it seems as though everyone on this message board has a RM except me. By the way, what does a RM do?

Maybe I should have stated that no current employees at USM or individuals that are "too close" to the situation will be considered for the job.

Maybe you should state that you are full of malarkey or why you feel that you have information that is worth repeating.  Give some proof that you're legit, man!

A fair, open, national search would be a Good Thing.  It would be interesting to see what kind of people feel up to the challenge of putting USM back to rights.  But remember, this assumes that the IHL wants us put back to rights, and issue being grappled with on other threads.

Let me give you a job descripiton for a Risk Manager:

- Fear and intimidation

- Sender of nasty emails

- Keep clients from looking like idiots (eg, Hanbury fired)

- Wine selection for fine dining.

- Advisment on selection of unqualified employees

- Tie neck-ties when clients fingers are too short

- Hire man-servents to "rough-up" those who disagree with client

- Recommendation of a good cappichino maker

SRM,

Prankster though you are, this scenario almost sounds plausible. I'll play along...what do "they" tell you about the fate of the Dvoraks and other Thames henchmen? Fish and Game Commission appointments, Plea bargains, witness protection program, something else?

It is our understanding that those closest to Thames may alrady have resumes (accurate or inaccurate) with their headhuntrs. From what we have been told, some upper level administration will remain thru the search, but the new president will be allowed to build his upper admin as he sees fit. We also understand that Hudson may return to the Gulf Coast as provost, but that may only be an option depending on how he handles this in the transition.

Austin Eagle,

From what I can gather, a RM pulls your backside out of the fire preventing serious burns.

Ohhh....Then I absolutely need to secure the services of a skilled RM, at least here on the domestic front. Do you happen to know if they're typically listed in the yellow pages?

I don't think so, you can ask around here to see where these fine folks get theirs. I don't have one either, don't necessarily want one. I keep my own backside out of trouble.
