210 votes; 89% skeptical of the IHL.  I wonder if Robin Robinson will pay any attention to this poll.

This is a double edged sword. I don't think anyone in thier right mind believes that relations will get better.

But, it's not all one sided. I have little doubt that Thames about as close to reconciling with the faculty as I am to voting for John Kerry. At the same time, this facutly and it's leadership have no desire to work with Thames. It goes both ways. It says that none of you can play nicely together.

Clean Slate.....Share the Blame.

The question specifically asks about the College Board's leadership...not who is to blame for the crisis.  Therefore, it is a referendum on what people think about the leadership/lack of leadership being provided by the IHL.

Glad to know that you will be among the 41% of Americans voting for 4 more years of W.

They usually publish the results on the opinion page within a day or two of closing it.

Looks like another overwhelming vote of "No Confidence" for Thames, the Henchcrew, Klumb, and the IHL.

text of a message just sent to the IHL:

RESULTS OF LATEST POLL IN HATTIESBURG AMERICAN

Will the state College Board provide the leadership that is needed to improve relations between the administration and faculty at the University of Southern Mississippi?

Yes 9.0%

No  91.0%

Total Votes: 379  [as of 11:30 p.m. on May 25]

======================================================

Unfortunately, thanks to the biased statements of President Klumb, the IHL is now viewed almost with as much skepticism as Shelby Thames himself.  The IHL is doing itself no favors by continuing to support an administrator who, if he were running a business accountable to stockholders and other stakeholders, would have been given a Golden Parachute long ago.  The IHL should disentangle itself from this particular tar baby as soon as possible, for the good of USM, the IHL, and even Shelby Thames himself.  He would be able to make a much finer contribution to the university, in his golden years, if he were back in Polymer Science.  Or, if the IHL thinks he is doing such a great job for USM, perhaps you should suggest to the governor that he be given a promotion and be put in charge of economic development for the southern half of Mississippi.  He has, however, proven himself to be an inept college president.  The IHL has damaged its own credibility by embracing and endorsing him.

Jack Nicholson is quoted as saying "My mother never understood the irony of calling me a son of a bi**h."

I can't help wondering if anyone finds any irony in tenure being attacked by people who enjoy an 11-year term of office (IHL Board). Perhaps post-tenure review could be done every 11 years...seems fair to me.

David, what a smart observation.  Hope that gets pointed out somehow.
