The purchase of two new fire trucks — at a cost of $396,000 — that feature smaller wheel bases will allow the Hattiesburg Fire Department improved access to the University of Southern Mississippi campus, Fire Chief Jim Fiero said Monday.
"These provide us with much more maneuverable fire fighting vehicles," Fiero said. "The University has lots of people and many buildings in a very compact area, narrow streets and lots of on-campus parking.

I'm very relieved to learn of this acquisition. This assures us that even as Emperor Shelby fiddles, incendiary actions of the IHL notwithstanding, the Hattiesburg Fire Department will not allow USM to burn to the ground.
